THIS WEEKEND'S GRAND EVENT: The 3 day Teck BC Cup #1 will be happenin' at Otway this weekend, Jan 9th (today Friday) to Jan 11th (Sunday). SHORT VERSION: -3.9°C @ 3:00AM, temp slowly rising from -7.7°C @ 6:00PM last nite. More snowcat grooming today for more incredible skate & classic.

LONG VERSION: Fresh 4 cm snow overnite & currently snowing @ 3:00AM. Double snocat grooming again today, we should get most trails re-skate laned and trackset. This is perfect weather & snow for both grooming and skiing, especially classic. The groomers are doing their share, its up to you to get out here and ski, before the weather turns uncomfortably warm in a few days! There are a few restrictions until 4:00 PM each day on what trails you can access (see link to map above) this weekend, but with 50+ km of manicured trails, there is still lots left to explore. If you ski every available trail twice, want more, & are getting bored, then just ski all the available 2 way trails in the other direction! :)

PARKING: The overflow lot was plowed out on Thursday afternoon by our faithful plow operator Steve Arnold. See the above map link for location. Or, take the Barking Lot turnoff just after the 2nd set of railway tracks if u are coming from town, drive thru the brand new open yellow gate (thanks to Omenica Fabricating - our new neighbours) then immediately go thru the open (& rather historic) gate on your right. Lots of space, and you can walk or ski to the main parking lot & all the action along the packed trail that parallels Otway Road.

TODAY'S THANKS & A TIP O' THE TOQUE GOES TO: Patrick from NW Electric, & 3 of our dedicated volunteers: Andrew Watkinson, Hugh Nelmes, & Darcy Bull. All the trail lights in the Cross Country Stadium unexpectedly went on Sick Parade on Wednesday night, and the above team spent much of Thursday diagnosing the issue and isolating the problem. The result is we have a few trail lights continuing to nap on Canada Cup, but the Stadium lites are again operational. Merci! It means the race setup crews won't be working in the dark every morning this weekend. A grand merci-beaucoup!

TRAIL DIRECTIONAL CHANGE: Up the Creek can also be known as Down the Creek temporarily. Until the Hickory Wing West (closed) situation is sorted, Up the Creek is a TWO (2) way trail, for the balance of this season anyway. TAKE CARE! There is a blind steep hi speed corner. Keep to the right, uphill skiers have the right of way.
