September is starting off with some cold mornings that quickly warm up into beautiful days. This is when we are reminded that fall is nearly here! Be sure to pack those extra layers and a headlamp in case trail time starts early or lasts into the evening.

Sun Valley Company reports:

- Lift service for hiking and biking is over for the season.

- Access to the top of Baldy via Bald Mountain Trail and Upper College will be closed due to construction until further notice. Sun Valley Company suggests hiking up I-80 to access the summit.

- Lower Bald Mountain Trail will be closed for construction through September.

- Saddle Up Trail and Lupine Trail remain closed for the season.

- Open Hiking & Multi-Use Trails: Roundhouse Connector, Broadway Trail, Cold Springs Trail, French Connection, Traverse Trail, Warm Springs Trail, and sections of Bald Mountain Trail.

- Open Biking Trails: River Run Trail, Mindbender Trail, Pale Rider Trail

Idaho Power is burying power lines between the SNRA headquarters and Galena Lodge. Expect to see work occurring near or on the Harriman this fall. There are no planned closures but stay aware if you are near the construction and follow the work crews’ instructions.

Idaho Power will also be working near the Hospital tunnel on the Wood River Trail next week. There are no planned closures, but work crews might direct you to walk around any construction on the path. For your and the crew’s safety, if you are riding, please slow down and dismount your bike if needed.

There is still plenty of trail time left- hope you are all getting out to enjoy it!

Forest Service reports:

Warm Springs Band This band is in Barr Gulch.

Baker Creek Band This band is near Newman Creek area. They will trail north towards Buccal Gulch and then Prairie Creek.

East Fork Band This band is grazing in Paymaster.

Lake Creek Band This band is grazing southwest towards Taylor Canyon. They will enter Lake Creek to ship from the corrals. (Trail 324)

Corral Creek Band This band is grazing near Pioneer Cabin and head towards Lower Hyndman. They will graze in this area over the next week. (Trails 122 & 123)

Elkhorn Band This band is near Bear Gulch (Trail 121)

Cove Creek Band This band is in Finley Gulch. They will trail across Cove Creek and into Fowler Gulch.

NOTES & REMINDERS:

Quigley Update: The first ¼ mile of Quigley Road is closed July 8 - October 31. If you are recreating out Quigley Canyon, follow the detour signs.

Quigley Hill Trailhead/parking and trail access from trailhead will be closed Sept. 1-Oct. 5. For questions, reach out to info@quigley-farm.org.

Boulder Bike Tour - Mark your calendars and help celebrate Galena Lodge’s closing day with the Boulder Bike Tour on September 20^th.

Updated closing date! SNRA Head Quarters will be open weekdays 8:30-4:30 until September 24th.

Stage 1 Fire restrictions have been lifted: Lifting the restrictions means the public is free to build campfires, use a charcoal barbecue, or smoke outside of designated campgrounds and recreation sites.
However, fire managers would like to remind the public that wildfires can be prevented year-round by following a few simple tips:

Never leave a campfire unattended.
Always keep water, dirt, and a shovel near a fire.
Make sure your fire is dead out and cold to the touch before leaving it.
Never use fireworks, exploding targets, or tracer rounds on or near public land.
