Today's pic from Poach is of fresh corduroy at dawn (truth in advertising: this was from a few days ago and the sun didn't make an appearance this morning, but that's a good thing because it is SNOWING!)
A fresh dusting of snow fell overnight, which will mix in nicely as the Trail Crew aims to groom everything today. It is fast and firm, especially down low, with loose frozen granular conditions below Old County Road and packed powder above Old County Road. The first person we spoke with coming in from a ski this morning said 'It's absolutely amazing!'. You can see the grooming progress on the real-time GPS-tracked map and trail list here and we encourage all skiers to plan their route around what has been groomed when you venture out. The last couple hundred meters of Fox Track are closed for snowmaking operations, but we are otherwise 100% open. Temps should get to 30F and there is no real wind expected so come have a gorgeous day on skis or snowshoes.
Suggested wax approach is a binder under a cold kick wax like blue and maybe violet later in the day.
The Cabin is open 10AM - 330PM and will have scratch-made soups, Kafeehaus baked goods, hot drinks, and a warm place to take a break. The Cabin will be hopping all holiday weekend with lots of guests making their journey up. Please only venture to the Cabin if you are comfortable descending the 800' of vertical. Reminder that the Cabin is cash only.
