If you are going to recreate in Hyalite, do yourself a favor and get tire chains, if you do not already have them, and then use them.  The road has not been plowed and is extremely slick from freeze-thaw weather and traffic.  We chained up at the bottom and it made our day significantly less stressful.

As for the trail report, the USFS crew got around almost everything with ginzus today.  A few sections of trail near Grotto and Chisholm were only track packed and we did not do anything with the Blackmore Loops.  Expect early season conditions with plenty of bumps and thin spots.  This warmer snow has a decent amount of density to it and it groomed out and packed very well, so coverage is generally better than a typical early December.  Expect soft spots and bumps, along with treacherous driving.
