Sun's Out, Guns Out. While we would love to see temps stay in the 20's the entire month of March, skiing in a t-shirt or light layer is a special treat and we may start seeing some skin today with a high of 56F. The trail crew has been out the past couple hours getting the PistenBully on as many trails as they can before it warms up to a temp where grooming will harm more than help the trails. The snow is a loose, frozen granular this morning and will get softer throughout the day. Stay on groomed trails only until the snow softens up this afternoon! Remember the ungroomed trails will only be getting softer through the day, which will mean slow downhills, but easy uphills. Yesterday was two different days with groomed, faster snow earlier in the morning and then very slow, lurchier snow in the late afternoon, but the sun was gorgeous.

We are remiss to have not said a major thank you to Stowe Nordic for co-hosting this past Sunday Funday events with numerous Race to the Cabin volunteers, co-sponsoring the Noah Dines talk, and helping make the Junior Cabin Challenge possible. Stowe Nordic is a wonderful partner to Trapp and we are lucky they offer excellent programs for Juniors, Masters, beginners, and all other skiers in our area. Check out their offerings next season if you want to make big strides in your skiing and be part of a vibrant community.

The NCAA Nordic Championships hosted by Dartmouth College took place last week just down the road at Oak Hill in Hanover, NH and our brave little state once again punched above its weight with great performances by locals Ava Thurston and Finn Sweet from Waterbury and Brian Bushey from Montpelier - all who have logged many kilometers at Trapp. Here is a recap of the Freestyle race and here is a recap of the Classic race.

The Cabin is open 10AM - 330PM today with a couple wonderful soups to choose from, tasty baked goods, hot drinks, and a warming fire to have a seat by. Reminder that the Cabin is Cash Only.
