There is a lot of debris down on the back country trails as a result of the strong Thursday night winds. GC and FT in good shape after the freshening up yesterday.
Welcome to the Duck Mountain Nordic Club(formerly Kamsack Ski Club). We are implementing this grooming app, in conjunction with the Park, so as to provide easy access to trail status and special notices. Yes we are new at this so apologies for a learning curve!
Our new office just arrived at Jack Rabbit Jct. !
Some heavy lifting done by club members Scott Sears and Brad Smorodin over two days as we cleared about 27 km of large dead fall by chainsaw. Another 12 km was cleared of branches and hand bombable trees. This helped to keep the trails narrow preserve their intimacy. The rest of the trails were cleared with the help of the park staff with a bulldozer and tractor.
No need to go to the gym after that!!
Duck Mountain is this Saturday Feb 25.
All trails were packed only today. Track setting will happen tomorrow.
PLEASE refrain from snowshoeing/walking on the groomed skate/classic trails prior to the loppet. Thank you
