February 7th Grooming Report

Rain to a Blizzard!

Wild weather is nothing new at Trail Creek, but today is definitely one of those days.  As grooming began this morning, the intermittent Husky wipers were barely keeping up with the rain drops, then about halfway through grooming the rain switched to snow, heavy enough at times to require constant wipers.  As of report time the snow is coming down very hard (the image above was before the rain switched to snow, pictures of blizzards aren't impressive, mainly white), with only about a quarter mile visibility and periodic gusty winds.

If however, you want to have a lovely Nordic ski, today is still your day.  The Husky’s mission today began with a skate/classic pass of the Moose Chase Course.  As that was completed, additional laps were made throughout the fields and on the Nordic X course in preparation for the last Wilson Winter Sports day midday today at Trail Creek.   The six inches of wet heavy snow packed down nicely and skiing should work well as long as too much new snow doesn’t accumulate.

This afternoon will be quiet at Trail Creek as the teams that normally practice are off to West Yellowstone for the IMD Qualifier #2.  Finally, thanks to Coach Kaya for another great Devo image below!

Groomer’s choice for today is skiing in the woods.
