January 16th Grooming Report

Sun and Snow!

There’s been pretty much nothing but sun and snow around Trail Creek for some days.  Thankfully the temperatures have barely reached up to freezing so the snow we do have has continued to work well.  There has been a change today in that finally on the National Weather Service forecast snow has returned with next Thursday the 22nd showing a chance of snow showers.  While the skiing has been pretty good, some fresh snow will be awesome!

Today’s grooming was a complex mixture.  The Prep/Comp and Junior skiers are doing a classic sprint format out of the stadium, down and around the Aspen Bump, and back up to the Stadium so there is a classic track all around that course.  The Ginzu touched upon Cle’s Climb, Faceplant, and Mug’s Meadow.  The Husky did a loop around most of the rest of the trails throughout the system with fresh classic tracks on some of the Close Field trails that had slightly drifted.  Most trails are looking good and should ski nicely.

Grooming over the weekend is tentatively a rework of the field Saturday morning with the Husky then possibly a Ginzu pass of the woods Saturday afternoon.  What actually happens will be based entirely on how conditions evolve.

Finally a correction; it was brought to the grooming department's attention that the guns utilized in the biathlon earlier in the week are no longer shooting BB’s, but are actually laser guns.  High tech Nordic, really cool!

Groomer’s choice for today is Armin’s.
