February 24th Grooming Report

Spring is in the Air!

As of report time the sun is poking through the clouds and the temperature has climbed to 43º.  While slightly lower elevations received only rain last night, we did pick up 2-3 inches of very heavy snow overnight.  The really good news today is that the Husky’s leaking hose has been replaced and it was able to venture out on nearly every trail today.

Even though temps are quite warm, the base of the trails is holding up well.  Today’s grooming initiated with a journey through the woods trails, setting classic tracks along the way.  Attention then shifted to the fields with multiple passes and mostly fresh double classic tracks.  Grooming went well with firm, but spring-like conditions. Skiing is nothing but fun on a day like today!

Junior’s on up have the afternoon off today as they were busy racing yesterday in Sun Valley.  It looks like a great crew will be travelling to nationals in Soldier Hollow in less than two week.  This web page shows IMD rankings where you can see all the skiers that are advancing to nationals.  Wyoming High School Championships are this upcoming Friday and Saturday in Laramie, and probably around a hundred Junior age on down skiers will be off Idaho for the IMD Youth Festival next Saturday and Sunday.

Groomer’s choice for today is to enjoy some spring skiing in the fields.
