March 17^th Grooming Report

Time to Pause and Thanks!

Pictured above and below are many of the youth athletes and coaches who have participated in the great programs that JHSC Nordic provides each year.  In addition to those pictured, don’t forget the Master’s Team, the parents who participated in the After School Master’s Program to improve their own skiing abilities, and the thousands of regular cross country skiers who have all come together to make Trail Creek the very special place that it is.

All of these athletes deserve a hearty thank you for their dedicated hard work this year, often dealing with snow that was less than cooperative.  A huge thank you to all the coaches who, with their seemingly endless energy, keep coming up with novel ideas to keep it fresh, and also do a great job of communicating with parents and the rest of the staff.

In a year that was not scheduled for any races, thanks to all the volunteers, we managed to pull off a Wyoming High School Race and an IMD Qualifier that were moved to Trail Creek due to lack of snow at the originally scheduled venues.  While it looks like skiing and grooming may not be possible through the end of the month, it has still been a season with lots of great Nordic skiing.

Today’s grooming was mostly a traverse to Moose Loop, Sam and beyond where some pretty good skiing can still be found.  The Husky did make it up to the end of the Old Pass Road and regulars might notice a bit of rerouting in Armin’s and Moose Loop to take advantage of some still quite nice snow.  The Husky is parked for today and the foreseeable future, but if another snow storm materializes, there could still be some additional grooming.

 Groomer’s choice for today is Trail Creek.
