Happy Friday Nordic skiers!

We're into the heart of the season, but Mother Nature is challenging us with marginal conditions. We're seeing temperatures at 31°F at Grand Junction (Elevation 4,250') as of 7:45 AM. The lack of snow and warmer temperatures have created a freeze-thaw cycle that's left many trails glazed over in the morning, then softening considerably by noon.

Important trail advisory: The section from the viewpoint on Cold Creek to the bridge is particularly challenging and may require skiers to walk certain sections. Please use caution, be prepared to adapt, and please feel free to remove your skis and walk any challenging sections—simply stay to the right side of the trail to help preserve the groomed center for other skiers. This keeps our limited snow in the best possible shape for the entire community.

Getting to the best snow:

  • East Peak Chair is running today—this is your best bet! Take the chair up and ski down Creek Run to access the higher elevation trails.
  • Silver Fir Chair is also running with two chair downloads at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM, or you can take the shuttle back from East Peak to Silver Fir.

Multiple options to get up top, but please be advised of current conditions and ski within your ability level.

Before you head out: Download the Nordic Pulse app and load the Summit Nordic trail system for the most up-to-date trail map and conditions while you're out there. Cell service is limited on the trails, so having the app pre-loaded is key.

Looking ahead: We have new trail signs on their way and expect to have them installed on the mountain next weekend!

We're open 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM today, Friday, January 16th. Stay safe and enjoy what snow we have!
