Nordic Trail report on closing day at Howelsen Hill, Sunday March 29, 2025.

A warm, rainy night, gave way to wet and heavy snow on the hill. It did not help conditions much - many spots throughout the Nordic trail system showing bare ground, vegetation, and rocks. This weather reminds me more of the Pacific Northwest, than southern Wyoming country.

Alas, a full groom was completed this morning with the exception of the outer loop of the Håkan Spar, which is essentially closed for the season.

I would recommend not skiing your favorite pair of Nordic skis today, but perhaps opt for your low tide rock skis.

The city of Steamboat Springs parks and rec crew will continue to groom and maintain the Nordic trail system as long as weather and conditions allow and we will continue to update the Nordic pulse app on our progress. We had a great season and look forward to the next. See you on the trail!
