The Friends of Jasper National Park Winter Trails Project was launched for the 2021/2022 winter season and is the first project of its kind in a Canadian Mountain National Park.
By harnessing the power of volunteers and a purpose-built machine called a Snowdog, we are able to flat-pack trails to produce a smooth and supportive trail base that allows all users to enjoy Jasper’s winter trails without having to spin their tires or sink deep into the snow.
Regular flat packing on over 50km of trails, accessible from the Jasper townsite, will take place each winter from December to March (as conditions permit).
