Where have all the groomers gone...?
You may be wondering how it can happen that it's almost mid-January and not a single track has been set on WBC ski trails. After the early snow was roller packed, there was (and still is) a fantastic base on which the skiing has actually been pretty great. Since that time, only 5 cm of snow have graced the area and this was not enough to set tracks for two reasons:
1. While the coverage is good, it is not deep enough to ensure that we don't pull up rocks and other debris into the snowpack.
2. If we damage the renovator teeth on the Ginzu groomers, they may not be in shape for when the snow finally comes.
We are as eager to get out there and groom those trails as you are to ski them. Meanwhile we'll do
our best to harvest some snow to cover some of the areas that are thinning out in the warmer
weather. Keep the faith - the snow will come!
