Feb 8th:  Grooming took place under mainly clear skies on Friday night from Pocaterra Hut on some of the trails with the thinnest base.  Snow last weekend left about 5 to 20cm's depending on elevation, with another cm or two falling Monday and Tuesday. Recent high winds have led to drifting in some areas, and plenty of snow bombs. The new snow has improved conditons, but the snowpack is close to an historic low for this time of year, and there are still a few places not trackset as normal.

Though the solid base from a Dec. melt has suppressed most exposed rocks and dirt at lower elevations (some are still present) early season natural hazards exist on some trails north of and including Packers. These include some bumps and uneven surfaces, exposed brush and possible ice; there is also the possibility of downed trees from recent high winds. Packers continues to improve but needs the most snow to eliminate hazards and it deserves special mention for some early season hazards that remain, mainly bumps and uneven surfaces.
