Howelsen Hill Nordic Update:  12/10/2025

A group of volunteer groomers has been given permision by the City to groom some of the Howelsen Hill cross country trails by snowmobile until there is sufficient snow depth for the trails to be groomed with a snow cat. The goal of this early season grooming is to provide preliminary snow packing on that trails that will make it possible for the snow cat to groom trails earlier in the season and allow for some basic nordic use.

Please be advised that snowmobile grooming with thin coverage does not provide the same quality of grooming as a snow cat. There are no classic tracks. Skiers should be prepared for the trails to be soft with some ruts, as well as grass, sticks, and rocks exposed within the surface. The snowmobile grooming schedule will be irregular and dependent on conditions and volunteer availability. Skiers should also be aware of the presence of snowmobiles, snowcats and ongoing snowmaking operations including high pressure water hose and electrical cables.

Groomed on Dec. 9 at 7am with snowmobile:

- Low road to middle road loop from stables parking lot

- 2.5Km loop (Rodeo loop to Hakan Spar)

- Vanatta Baseball Field
