The Crooked River Provincial Park, with the co-operation & assistance of BC Parks, and Yellowhead Road & Bridge, is the seasonal home to the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club's satellite 4 km of skate & classic ski trails.

The park's elevation is 803 metres (2,635'). The CNSC lodge at Otway Road however, is 605 metres (1985'). This difference of ~ 200 metres (650'), in addition to the Park being 70 km north of Prince George translates into colder temperatures, greater precipitation, and earlier generous snowfall.

Hence, in years when CNSC's (commonly known as Otway) early season's snowdepth is not skiable or groomable as early as we would like, Crooked River typically has copious quantities of snow. The Park is our CNSC's season ace-in-the-hole so to speak. It would see a grooming/tracksetting as often as once a week, usually on a Friday, for weekend use by recreational users, cross country ski racers, and biathlon competitors that are anxious to get going. Of course as soon as the weather co-operates at Otway, and there is sufficient snow depth, the grooming at the Park dissipates, and eventually ceases altogether. Unless there is a catastrophic  mid season thaw at Otway, when the Park's grooming gets fired up again!

In good (and early) snow years at Otway,  there may be no grooming done at Crooked River.
