Top of the ol'mornin Mt Spokanites! It was another good grooming sesh this evening, the trails are lookin good and worth trip the up the hill for sure. Tim the tree man Ray, one of your amazing volunteers scoped out the lower trails for us, cut some trees and made it possible for me to groom Lower Tripp's, Upper Tripp's and lower outer limits. A big shout out to him! I would have done upper OL as well but the gate on Idaho Forrest lands is unfortunately still closed. Our office is working to get that rectified and hopefully soon. They keep it closed until we get enough snow as to keep people from driving vehicles out onto our trail system. Anyway, we have decent snow coverage down there now, but be aware there are some this areas and a few water crossings to contend with. I filled those areas in with snow, but because of the moving water they will most likely show up again. The only one that I really don't like is on Upper Tripp's on the uphill side of the trail, there is a culvert and it creates a drop off that extends into the trail about a foot or so. It's been that way for ever but it's more pronounced at the moment as we don't have enough snow for me to fill it in so give that a wide birth when you see it. I'll flag the trees around that in the coming days. Also, there were a few trees I had to cut out on Upper Tripp's which left some debri on the trail and intermittent track sets. While all that doesn't sound amazing those trails actually groomed out really well and the snow is good quality. I just strive to arm you with the right info so you can adjust accordingly. There continues to be a moose dance party happening all over the trails, I found one of the culprits on lower Tripp's a younger bull just hangin out until we disturbed him, and he wasn't too intimidated or imoressed by my machine so he may a bit grouchy tomorrow. I also saw a cougar out there this evening, sonjust a reminder to keep your head in a swivel, enjoy the abundant wildlife on our wonderous mountain but be sure maintain a healthy distance and respect for those wild animals who call the mtn home. Alright, go skiing and have a stellar day.
