*The Beaver Creek Trailhead Parking Lot is closed for the season, please use the Osprey Lodge Trailhead to access the northern trails or the Meadow Loop Trailhead.*

Today is daylight savings, so Spring ahead and it is also the last day to ski from the Meadow Loop and Walk In Trailheads as they put up a good fight, but will be closing at dusk.

We did get just below freezing again last night which will make for some really good skiing this morning before it warms up into the 50's with a 50% chance of light rain this afternoon.   The best conditions will be in the open areas of our northern trails, especially if you are willing to venture across the road to the Swamp Creek Loop and past the trees towards the Stonewater Loop area.  The trails are melting quickly in the trees and there are thin, icy and even bare spots showing.

From the Meadow Loop Trailhead, just skate was able to be set on most of the Meadow Loop, the BCT out to the shortened turnaround and Sprint loop  and it might feel like the trails are the only snow out there.  The far northeast corner of the Meadow Loop has a melt out and was not groomed.  The Walk in Trailhead has a slight detour into the Sprint Loop area because of a melt out and it is getting very narrow at the far entrance.

From the Osprey Lodge Trailhead, fresh skate was set on the BCT from the Clear Creek Turnaround all the way to the Stonewater Loop, the Clear Creek Loop, Grizzly Mountain and the Swamp Creek Loop, with the classic being touched up in a few spots, but overall holding up in the open areas from yesterday.  Be aware of the icy spots under the trees and melt out areas on Grizzly Mtn (which is a 2 way trail on the north side) and through the trees getting to the open fields.

Closures include the entire Mill Hill complex, the section just before Mountain Springs Lodge to Stonewater Loop and the southern section of Grizzly Mountain, which all have melt out sections and signs posted.

Use caution in the 2 open parking lots, they will be icy and micro spikes are recommended.  The Meadow Loop parking lot is a bit bumpy and the Osprey Lodge parking lot has a large sheet of ice, so please be careful.

We still have roughly 40% of our trails remaining open on the northern section of our system, all accessable from the Osprey Lodge Trailhead.   The goal is to be able to offer a quality trail experience and not just keep sketchy trails open to say we have trails open.  We will continue to evalutate the trails each day, but are not sure it we will make it to the weekend.
