Jan 17th - After six days of temperatures not falling below freezing and spiking into the double digits a couple days ago, the snowcat began renovating, breaking up the top ice layer and bring up some drier snow as temperatures cooled down. Grooming and tracksetting continued yesterday morning on the Kananaskis Village trails, then continued on into the evening, and wrapped up early Saturday morning on Bill Milne and Wedge.

Conditions are decent on the core village trails considering the recent weather with firm tracks and potentially some icy areas.

Ribbon Creek trail and Coal Mine not recommended with many hazards on Ribbon Creek, particularly on the s bend hill and Coal Mine was not groomed.

Wedge Connector groomed and trackset. Conditions are good.

Wedge Extension groomed and partially trackset. Hazards such as rocks and exposed dirt are present on a short section west of Highway 40.

Bill Milne – Groomed and trackset. Skiers will encounter occasional sections where tracks are lifted due to exposed pavement. Despite these thin spots, the trail is almost completely trackset, and conditions improve east of the Kananaskis River.

A couple more days of forecasted freeze / thaw temperatures may again effect conditions.
